Analog Devices Says . . .
Fully-Specified Broadband RF Gain Block Amplifiers From Analog Devices Operate From 100 MHz to 2.7 GHz
AD8353 and AD8354 can operate from either 3-volt or 5-volt supply, and provide specified gain and output power over the full operating temperature range.

The AD8353 and AD8354 are broadband, fixed-gain linear amplifiers that operate at frequencies from 100 MHz to 2.7 GHz. Both the AD8353 and AD8354 provide a fixed gain of 20 dB with single-ended input and output, internally matched to 50 ohms. Both products are specified for operation with a bias voltage of 3 to 5 volts.

The AD8353 provides the user with a linear output power of +8 dBm and a third order intercept point of +23 dBm while drawing only 42 mA supply current. The AD8354 provides a linear output of +4 dBm and a third order intercept of +19 dBm while drawing only 24 mA supply current. By taking advantage of Analog Devices' high performance 25 GHz complementary bipolar silicon process, the AD8353 and AD8354 offer excellent stability over process, temperature and supply.

analogZONE Says . . .

The data sheets for these two products are not yet available (very unusual for ADI) but they have to be reviewed if only because of the rather staggering fact that the designer has managed to incorporate internal matching in a frequency range from 100 MHz to 2.7 GHz! Of course, when we see the numbers, we probably won't see the same return loss over the whole frequency range -- but I'm still staggered as I cannot even imagine how to do that with discrete components.

20-dB gain blocks in tiny packages are going to be a boon to designers in many walks of life but they will help most in the high-volume product arenas where you just run out of steam in a design cycle because of a filter or matching problem and getting those extra dBs is just really painful. Gain blocks like this, even if you end up with a small attenuator as well, could save some weeks of work.

Both the AD8353 and AD8354 are in production in a chip scale with an exposed paddle for heat transfer. Both are priced at $1.05 in 1000-piece lots and evaluation boards are available.
